Today’s readings

David refuses to kill Saul when given the opportunity. Abigail's wisdom later prevents David from taking revenge into his own hands.

Jesus says His sheep hear His voice and no one can snatch them from His hand.

The psalmist loves the LORD who hears prayer and delivers from death.

Wisdom brings joy; foolishness despises those who gave instruction.

David learns to leave judgment with God. Jesus gives His sheep security that frees us from revenge and panic.

What wrong am I tempted to avenge instead of entrusting justice to God?

Pray for wisdom before responding to a hurt.

Jesus, keep me secure in Your hand and free me from the need to control justice myself. Amen.

Choose a peaceful response where revenge would be easier.
