Day 174 · June 23
A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: 2 KINGS 4:18-5:27
- New Testament: ACTS 15:1-35
- Psalm: PSALM 141:1-10
- Proverb: PROVERBS 17:23
Old Testament
Elisha raises the Shunammite’s son, feeds many, and Naaman is cleansed when he humbly obeys. God’s grace reaches outsiders, while Gehazi’s greed brings ruin.
New Testament
The Jerusalem council rejects the idea that Gentiles must earn salvation through the Law. Peter’s conclusion is clear: we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus.
Psalm
David asks God to guard his mouth and keep his heart from evil.
Proverb
Bribery corrupts justice. Jesus calls His people to truth and impartial love.
Discover
Naaman receives cleansing he cannot buy. Acts 15 makes the same gospel truth unmistakable: salvation is God’s grace, not a wage we earn.
Reflect
Am I resting in grace or quietly trying to earn God’s acceptance?
Fellowship
Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.
Go around the group and complete this sentence: “This week I saw Jesus in ______.” Keep it simple and give everyone room to answer.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, keep my eyes on You and shape my life by Your Word. Holy Spirit, give me grace to trust, obey, and follow You today. Amen.
Live
Stop trying to earn what Jesus gives by grace. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.
