It All Points to Jesus

Day 214 · August 2

A devotional for today

Today’s readings

Old Testament

Hezekiah trusts God during Assyria’s threat, but later struggles with pride. Manasseh sinks into terrible evil, yet when humbled he seeks God and receives mercy.

New Testament

Paul describes his mission plans and closes Romans by honoring many faithful coworkers in the gospel.

Psalm

David feels lonely and afflicted but asks God for mercy, forgiveness, and rescue.

Proverb

Wisdom avoids careless pledges, values good counsel, and plans carefully.

Discover

July ends with mercy. Even Manasseh’s deep rebellion is not beyond God’s reach when he humbles himself. Romans ends by showing grace creating a family of servants around Jesus.

Reflect

Do I believe anyone - including me - is beyond the reach of God’s mercy?

Fellowship

Name someone whose quiet service has strengthened your walk with Christ.

Go around the group and complete this sentence: “This week I saw Jesus in ________.” Keep it simple. Listen to one another and encourage one another.

Prayer

Merciful Jesus, keep me humble, grateful, and faithful. Thank You that Your grace reaches farther than our sin. Amen.

Live

End July with gratitude. Thank God for one person who helped you follow Jesus.
