Day 259 · September 16
A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: ISAIAH 22:1-24:23
- New Testament: GALATIANS 2:17-3:9
- Psalm: PSALM 60:1-12
- Proverb: PROVERBS 23:15-16
Old Testament
Jerusalem trusts defenses more than the One who made them. Isaiah then widens the view: the whole earth lies under God's judgment, yet the LORD will reign.
New Testament
Paul says he has been crucified with Christ. New life is lived by faith in the Son of God, and Abraham shows that God's blessing comes through faith.
Psalm
After defeat, God's people ask Him to restore and lead them.
Proverb
A wise heart and truthful speech bring deep joy.
Discover
Paul gives us one of September's great truths: the old self no longer defines the believer. Jesus loved us and gave Himself for us; now our life is lived by faith in Him.
Reflect
What part of my old identity am I still carrying as though Christ has not changed me?
Fellowship
What does it mean in ordinary life to say, 'Christ lives in me'?
Go around the group and complete this sentence: “This week I saw Jesus in ______.” Keep it simple and give everyone room to answer.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, live Your life through me. Teach me to trust You instead of returning to self-reliance. Amen.
Live
Face one decision today as someone whose life now belongs to Christ.
