Day 275 · October 2
A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: ISAIAH 66:1-24
- New Testament: PHILIPPIANS 3:4-21
- Psalm: PSALM 74:1-23
- Proverb: PROVERBS 24:15-16
Old Testament
Isaiah closes with God looking favorably on the humble person who trembles at His word. Judgment and worldwide worship stand side by side as God's story moves toward its final fulfillment.
New Testament
Paul counts his impressive credentials as loss compared with knowing Christ. He presses toward the goal and reminds believers that their citizenship is in heaven as they await the Savior.
Psalm
Amid devastation, the psalmist asks God to remember His covenant and defend His cause.
Proverb
The righteous may fall repeatedly, but by God's grace they rise again.
Discover
September ends with the right ambition: know Christ. Isaiah looks toward worldwide worship; Paul looks toward the returning Savior who will transform His people. The journey is not about religious achievement. It is about Jesus.
Reflect
What would I gladly count as loss if it helped me know Christ more deeply?
Fellowship
After a month in Isaiah and Paul's letters, how has your view of Jesus grown?
Complete the sentence together: “This month I saw Jesus as ______.” Let each person answer briefly. Then thank God for one truth you want to remember.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I want to know You. Keep me pressing forward until faith becomes sight. Amen.
Live
Leave September with one aim: know Jesus, follow Jesus, and keep going when you fall.
