It All Points to Jesus

Day 288 · October 15

A devotional for today

Today’s readings

Old Testament

Old Testament Jeremiah risks death by declaring that the temple will not protect an unrepentant nation. He later wears a yoke to show that submission to Babylon is, for that moment, submission to God’s discipline. New Testament Paul commands steady faithfulness: pray, work responsibly, avoid idleness, and never tire of doing good. The Lord is faithful and able to strengthen and guard His people. Psalm The psalm asks God to revive His people and pictures steadfast love, faithfulness, righteousness, and peace meeting together. Proverb Even good things become harmful without self-control. Discover Jesus Jeremiah bears a yoke as a sign; Jesus invites the weary to take His yoke and learn from Him. God’s discipline is not permission to quit. In Christ we keep doing good because the Lord is faithful. Reflect Where do I need steady faithfulness instead of frustration or quitting? Fellowship Share one truth from today’s reading that helps you see Jesus more clearly. Ask how that truth should change the way you live today.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, keep my heart open to Your Word. Help me trust You, obey You, and reflect Your character today. Amen.
