A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: EXODUS 28:1-43
- New Testament: MATTHEW 25:31-26:13
- Psalm: PSALM 31:9-18
- Proverb: PROVERBS 8:12-13
Old Testament
God gives Moses detailed instructions for Aaron's high-priestly garments. Their beauty and holiness reflect the dignity of serving before the Lord. Aaron bears the names of Israel's tribes on his shoulders and over his heart, representing the people before God.
New Testament
Jesus describes the final judgment, separating the nations as a shepherd separates sheep and goats. Lives transformed by Him show compassion and mercy. Jesus then announces that His crucifixion is near. While leaders plot His death, He willingly continues toward the cross and the Father's plan of salvation.
Psalm
David cries to the Lord in suffering and places his life in God's hands. God's unfailing love is his refuge, and he encourages all who trust the Lord to be strong and courageous. Proverb Summary Wisdom offers sound judgment, understanding, righteousness, and discernment - treasures far greater than earthly wealth. Discover Jesus Aaron served as Israel's high priest, but he pointed forward to Jesus Christ, our perfect and eternal High Priest. Unlike Aaron, Jesus never sinned. He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice once for all and opened the way into the Father's presence forever. Jesus is also the righteous Judge and coming King. Everything in today's reading points to Jesus. Reflect How does knowing Jesus is your eternal High Priest strengthen your confidence in approaching God? How can you demonstrate Christ's love and compassion to someone this week? Fellowship Discuss how Jesus as our High Priest and coming King gives us confidence, hope, and purpose. Encourage one another to serve others with humility.
Prayer
Father, thank You for sending Jesus to be my perfect High Priest, faithful Savior, and coming King. Thank You that I can approach You because of His finished work. Fill me with wisdom and help me reflect Christ's love through
mercy, compassion, and obedience. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your faithfulness throughout every generation. Thank You for leading Your people, providing for every need, and revealing Your holiness through Your Word. Most of all, thank You for sending Jesus Christ - our Savior, our Bread of Life, our Living Water, our perfect High Priest, and our coming King. Help us trust You when the path seems uncertain, obey You with willing hearts, and faithfully use every gift You have entrusted to us. May our lives reflect Your holiness, compassion, and grace as we eagerly await the day when we will see Jesus face to face. Strengthen our faith, deepen our love, and help us point others to Christ in all we do. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Week 6 Preview Next week we continue through Exodus as God gives further instructions for the Tabernacle, appoints priests for His service, and reveals both His justice and mercy. Even after Israel's failure with the golden calf, we will see God's gracious desire to restore His people. In Matthew, Jesus willingly walks toward the cross. We will witness His anointing at Bethany, the Last Supper, His prayers in Gethsemane, His arrest, His trials, and His unwavering obedience to the Father's will. Read God's Word first. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus on every page. Allow His truth to transform your heart. Walk each day in faith, hope, and love. Because from Genesis to Revelation... It ALL Points to Jesus.
Live
Walk confidently with Jesus. Rest in His finished work, serve others with His love, and live with joyful hope as you await His return.
