Day 154 · June 3
A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: 2 SAMUEL 20:14-21:22
- New Testament: ACTS 1:1-26
- Psalm: PSALM 121:1-8
- Proverb: PROVERBS 16:18
Old Testament
David’s kingdom is still scarred by rebellion, violence, and old bloodguilt. God brings justice, mercy, and deliverance, yet the brokenness of David’s reign reminds us that Israel still needs a better King.
New Testament
The risen Jesus promises the Holy Spirit and commissions His followers to be witnesses. He ascends, and the disciples wait together for the promised power.
Psalm
God is our keeper. Our help comes from the Maker of heaven and earth.
Proverb
Pride goes before destruction. Jesus leads us in the opposite direction - the humility of a servant.
Discover
David’s wounded kingdom makes us long for the flawless King. Jesus restores what sin fractures and sends restored people to bear witness.
Reflect
Where do I need the risen Jesus to restore what sin or failure has damaged?
Fellowship
Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, keep my eyes on You and shape my life by Your Word. Holy Spirit, give me grace to trust, obey, and follow You today. Amen.
Live
Tell Jesus where you need restoration, then take the next faithful step. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.
